“The Greatest Memorial (The Lord’s Supper)”
A memorial is that which keeps alive the memory of someone or something. It is from the Greek word meaning “mindful.” It is something said or done in remembrance. It is a commemoration.
The Lord’s Supper is greater than any man, woman, event or thing. It is greater than any monument, stone or shrine. This memorial was begun by Jesus himself to His suffering for our sins (Luke 22:19,20). As we notice this most important memorial let us notice 4 important things:
I. The Right Participants - Christians (Matthew 26:29; Acts 2:42; Acts 20:7).
II. The Right Spirit (John 4:24; I Corinthians 11:23-29).
III. The Right Time - First Day Of The Week/ Sunday (Acts 20:7).
IV. The Right Elements - Unleavened Bread And Fruit Of The Vine (Luke 22:19,20).
The Lord’s Supper is the greatest of all memorials. It is a remembrance of Jesus’ death upon the cruel cross. It is an act of Christian worship upon each first day of the week. It is a proclamation that Jesus lives! We partake of it each week until He comes again. Let’s examine ourselves that we may be able to partake of it in a well pleasing manner. Why not become a New Testament Christian today and then you will have the honor and privilege of partaking of the Lord’s Supper each first day of the week. Love y’all and have a blessed Memorial Day, Tim
