“God Is Our Refuge and Strength”

May 26, 2026 · Tim Fuqua

David never prayed for the giant to go away. Shadrach, Meshack, and Abednego never prayed for the fire to go away. Daniel never prayed for the lion to go away. God showed up for each of them in the midst of trouble. The psalmist wrote, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Before the apostle Paul tells us to put on the whole armour of God, he wrote, “…Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10). Now Paul tells us to pray, but it is not until we put our full trust in God and after we have put on the whole armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). The apostle tells us to be confident because God will never leave, nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). In the next verse he wrote, “So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me” (Hebrews 13:6). God is our refuge and strength! Love y’all and have a blessed day, Tim
