“Fruit Full” (Part 7) “Full Of Goodness” (Galatians 5:22,23; Luke 18:18-27)

In Luke 18, Jesus is on His way to Jerusalem. His journey has been eventful. Ten lepers have been healed. Some Pharisees have questioned Him about the coming kingdom. He tells some parables along the way. He sits with a group of children. Then a young man asks a question, “Good Master, What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” As our Lord answers this young man, His love teaches us what goodness is all about!

I. Goodness Flows From God (Luke 18:18,19; Psalm 34:8).

II. Goodness Doesn’t Promote Self (Luke 18:20-23; Ephesians 4:28).

III. Goodness Invites Us Into The Presence And Power Of God (Luke 18:22-27; Romans 12:1,2; Philippians 4:13; Ephesians 6:10).

Our Lord’s encounter with the rich young ruler is a powerful story of potential. Here stands a man with the right questions, right background, and the right Saviour, but he cannot bring himself to let go of the world. Now his question becomes the question of the disciples, “Who then can be saved?” Those who will let go and let God (Luke 18:27).
