“Fruit Full” (Part 6) “Full Of Kindness” (Galatians 5:22,23; II Samuel 9:1-13)

Kindness is “the act of being friendly, generous, and considerate” (Google). It has been said that it is, “An attribute of God and a quality desirable but not consistently found in humans.” For us to show kindness, it takes energy and effort.

In II Samuel 9:1-13, God shows us what kindness is: In King David’s time, a king would put to death any of the remaining family of the previous king. This would take away any possible future claim to the throne. In verse one, David seeks someone from the house of Saul. It isn’t to inflict harm on them, but to show kindness for the sake of his friend Jonathan. Let’s look at three lessons on kindness from this great text:

I. Kindness Flows From A Relationship With The Father

(II Samuel 9:1-13; Ephesians 2:4-10; Ephesians 4:32).

II. Kindness Displays Generosity

(II Samuel 4:4; II Samuel 9:6-13).

III. Kindness Brings Hope For The Future

(II Samuel 9:13; Hebrews 6:19; Titus 1:2).

Jesus gave His blood on that cruel cross so that you and I might have life (John 10:10). Jesus kindly lived in this world and generously gave His life for us.
